Taina Ramirez is an multidiciplinary artist working and living in Chicago. Their work is heavily influenced by their experience as a part of the Puerto Rican and Mexican diaspora in Chicago. Through mediums such as drawing, painting, and printmaking, Ramirez explores themes of gender, generational trauma, cultural identity, and sociopolitical inequality. Ramirez's practice is heavily informed by their experiences in community organizing and education. They are currently a student at UIC studying Art Education, preparing to teach visual arts in a public high school. Their teaching practice centers art making as a vital tool for observing, critiquing, reimagining, and redesigning the world around us.
